In Honor of My Mother - Mother's Day Sentiments
The Woman You Are
There's a funny thing that happens
when a daughter gets older;
she sees her Mother for the woman
she is - to herself as a daughter
and to others.
That's what's happened to me.
I don't just see you as someone who
puts Band-Aids on cut knees and soothes away
bad dreams...
I see your beauty, your strength, your love for others.
I see people admire you and enjoy your very presence.
I see character and dignity.
For all the years you told me I make you proud,
I want to let you know that I am proud of you.
Your ability to love without judgment, to care without
expecting anything in return and to see me and the
rest of the world through eyes of love
makes me feel like the luckiest daughter in the world.
Happy Mother's Day.
The Brightest Star
When I was a child I'd look into the sky
and marvel at all the shining stars.
They'd capture my attention for hours.
There would always be one, bright, shining star
that stood out from the rest. The others were
still beautiful, but there was something special
about that one star....
I still look into the sky and am amazed at the
beauty of the stars. I still see that one, bright,
shining star that seems to stand alone among the millions.
But, now when I see that star, I think of someone-
someone who is special and stands apart from all
others.
That someone is you.
Happy Mother's Day.
My Mother, My Friend
I've noticed that as I grow older, I still rely on you, my mother, for many things.
Although those things have changed over the years, my love for you hasn't. It's just grown deeper- just like our friendship.
As a child I relied on you to love me, feed me and I took for granted that you were always there. I knew no other world.
As a teenager I gained an appreciation for what you did, but saw the world through the eyes of someone who was a little selfish and didn't thank you enough.
As an adult, I am so thankful for the friendship that has blossomed between us. You are still my mother and, yes, I do rely on you for the love that only a mother can give.
The years have shown me that you not only are you a wonderful mother, but one of the best friends anyone could ever wish for.
And I still can't thank you enough.
